"Preserve the Pensions" - War of 1812

This post is an invitation to visit the "Preserve the Pensions" web site.  You can read about the project at their site, but basically, Ancestry.com is offering to match dollar for dollar any tax-deductible contribution made to fund the digitizing of the original records that are at risk of permanent deterioration.  Fold3.com (an Ancestry.com company) will allow access to the results for free for an indefinite length of time.

  1. Thanks for sharing this information. I hadn't checked out Fold3 because I didn't have a subscription and didn't realize parts were free. I just found the records for my 3rd great-grandfather's service in the War of 1812! :)

  2. I'm glad that worked out for you! If you're a subscriber to Ancestry.com, you can get a significant reduction on the regular subscription price for Fold3. I was just charged $79.95 for a renewal but when I called to ask why I didn't get the discount, they said that I had different e-mail addresses associated with each of the accounts. I got that straightened out and they immediately issued a $40.00 credit. I mean IMMEDIATELY!! I was very surprised and pleased that it didn't turn into a battle!
