stay all night arrived at 5 oc
Fine weather was strong
west wind.

I've gotten a couple of suggestions but I'll wait till the morning to see if anyone else has any ideas.
I think you have it. The only word I might question is 'was' after weather. I think it's just 'a'. You were right, I should be grateful for my grandfather's handwriting!
